Hassan Sharif Advisor

Hassan Al-Sharif is a seasoned global CIO with over 25 years of multi-industry experience. A senior business executive and technology strategist, he has an entrepreneur’s orientation to develop and implement enterprise technology strategies and disruptive solutions. His areas of expertise include cost reduction, IT transformation, operational efficiency, systems modernization, disruptive innovations, customer experience, product development, optimizing technology structures, risk investment prioritization and cultural change management. Hassan leverages his diverse expertise across these areas to fuel growth, so that technology plays a dual role—both leading and following a business in its situational and contextual settings.

Shaping the technology function in diverse organizations—ranging from Fortune 500 companies to startups— Hassan has demonstrated expertise in technology architecture, security, risk, compliance and other critical areas. He has held various C-level corporate and consulting executive management positions in the healthcare, commercial ERP, retail, banking and financial services sectors. Working across these industries, Hassan has driven strategy, planning, technology development and operations—implementing key transformational initiatives from inception to adoption.

Hassan is currently the Corporate CIO for a national, integrated system of 19 hospitals and a managed services organization.  He leads technology strategy within the company.  Prior to this, Hassan was the Senior Vice President of Technology at UST Global, where he drove business development and customer experience for the healthcare and retail verticals. He was also formerly the CIO at New Mexico’s largest integrated healthcare system, responsible for transforming and re-architecting the business’ IT organization. Before that, he held the SVP/Global Head of Data Management and Data Architecture role, where he was responsible for enterprise data security, risk management and architecture at Visa, Inc. which processes $5.9 trillion annually in payment transactions across the globe.  He also held CIO and other senior roles at Kaiser Permanente, Sun Microsystems and Wells Fargo Bank.

Hassan obtained his undergraduate degree in industrial arts and computer science from San Francisco State University, and an executive MBA in technology and executive management from Golden Gate University, San Francisco.
